On your birthday, when your younger, you always get calls from older relatives wanting to wish you a happy birthday. These awkward conversations with people who feel obligated to catch up once a year were not something I looked forward to. I only wanted to get back to the celebrations – about me.
Yesterday my younger sister turned eight hundreds of miles away from me. I told her I missed her while she made faces with her friend in the video chat window. I forced a smile and told her I lover her and I had to go eat dinner. But I really hung up because I realised I had become one of those calls.
